Mosi's Rainy Day Surprise!

Mosi had the day to himself. He didnt have to babysit his siblings for once... it was nice. Halla was off on a hunt, the rain seemed to make the lionesses more moody... maybe because it was right before breeding season? None the less, he did enjoy being alone... even if he was wet.
Mosi was playfully chasing the grass that blew in the wind, the rain carried it far, a perfect way to exercise and practice hunting. He was still a young lion, not a full mane. Next season he would be an adult, able to have his own family before long... and he knew he wanted to share his life with Halla.

He started to get tired. He decided to crawl into the long grass and build a small fort around him from the long grass, to protect him from the rain. He was thankful it was a warm rain, but he needed to dry off for a bit. He felt soggy. He began sliding into the grass, many small animals had made paths in the grass. He hadnt done anything like this since he was a cub. The tunnels brought them so much fun when they were all cubs!
Nostalgia washed over him as he lay in the new warm little bed he made. He eagerly looked around, he felt hungry, but he didnt want to hunt anything big. Unlike the other lions who had seasons of skills, Mosi only had a few months. He had yet to become a good runner on wet grass. Needless to say, he felt foolish when he slipped on the wet grass and ruined the hunt.
He sighed, sniffing out the possible foods. Before long he found an odd scent. That of a strange lion... A group of rogues had been through there not long before. It disgusted him, how could they have crossed without the pride knowing? He scoffed sniffing out the trail, they hadnt been gone long... maybe two-three days. They passed through after spending the night. It made him feel better knowing they were not here for long.
His nose led him to a patch of their scent. It was strong. How could they have left days ago, yet leave such a strong scent trail? Nothing like this, its as if they had left behind a part of them. Mosi had witnessed alot of death as of late... he prepared himself for what he would find. The rainy season was indeed the number one season of deaths. Most cubs and young adults were generally lost during the rain, or drought. Mosi sighed, sniffing around.
Before long he found it. A small covered bundle in the grass. He sighed looking it over, he had to look, even if it was the body of a cub... He gently nudged the green grass away from the cub. He looked at the young cub. She was only days younger than his newest siblings. He sighed looking her over. She was so peaceful, and such a pretty little cub, he began to cover her back up, then he heard a noise. She moved, she stretched out her paws in a massive yawn. She looked up at him, and began to mew.
She had not yet learned any words he could see, but all her spots were gone. He smiled at the cub, she was hungry, obviously she had gone the past two days without food, if it wasnt for the rain she was able to drink, she may be dead. She sneezed, a little eye matter in her eyes. She had been sick... Mosi laid down beside the small bundle, she sneezed and walked towards him, a little weak. Mosi gently looked her over. She had recovered from her illness... her family must have thought she was going to die... if she had siblings, leaving her behind with the illness to prevent loss of further cubs would be an ideal thing to do.
Cubs at this age dont often recover from many illnesses, but when they do, they turn out to be a rather strong cub. He lovingly looked her over "Another sister?" His happy gaze was cut short when reality came to mind. They were short on food... even with the assisted hunts, the pride was getting to big... another cub, a female who could in the future have babies... would she be allowed?
Asante obviously had a soft spot for cubs... especially after losing her last litter. He smiled at the cub, even if he could not keep the cub, he would make sure she was cared for. He eagerly picked the cub up and took off at a run in the rain, trying to get her out of the rain and back to the den as fast as possible.
He didnt slip once in the rain. He was very proud of himself. As he entered the den, a small body greeted him, with a sneeze and a mew, it was Haku. Mosi smiled widely, and set down his little cub. Haku playfully batted at the little cubs nose. They both sneezed. Mosi laughed, until Asante walked over. It was her cub duty today, and now, it was fully up to Asante if the cub would be forced out. He wanted to get his mothers support before going to Asante, but now he had no other choice.
"I-I see Haku is stronger today?" Mosi tried to break the conversation. He loved his grandmother, but he still feared that she would turn down his request to keep the cub. Asante stared at the cub "Yes, he has been feeling rather strong today. Alas he has not spoken his first words yet, nor lost his spots. He is sick, Im worried he wont be getting better anytime soon... But im not worried he will die either. He is a fighter." Asante turned to make eye contact with Mosi, and then cleared her throat. She wanted him to bring up the little stranger he brought with him. Mosi knew Asantes throat clearing act well, its how she made him confess anything he had done wrong.
If he had left bones in the den, the eye locked cough would make him break, and he would confess. Mosi sighed "Grandma, when I was off on my free time, trying to learn o run on wet grass, I crawled into the long grass to dry off a little. I picked up the scent of rogues, and followed the trail, I quickly found this little cub, she is hungry, and recovering from a illness." Asante nodded "If she is ill, why did you bring her to the den?" Mosi nodded at Haku "So he could actually spend time with a cub without fear of getting them sick." Asante nodded "I see. So? What shall we do with her Mosi?"
Mosi smiled "Can we keep her? I mean... she needs a home. We could adopt her, like you did me..." Asante smiled "Ask your mother dear. I approve, but you need her ok." Mosi excitedly licked Asante cheek then hugged her "Thank you grandma!" Asante smiled "but you get double babysit duty when they are fully weaned." Mosi nodded and took off to find his mother. Asante looked at Haku, as he snuggled the new cub. Asante laid beside them, she needed to eat.
Asante sighed "Another mouth to feed... At least its a small one."

Mosi found Kai, she had finished a hunt with Asim, Marcus, and Gino. She enjoyed hunting so much, and this was one of the first big kills she had done since her latest birth. She smiled at Mosi and licked his head "Hello my big boy!" Mosi smiled at her "Hey mom! Enjoy the hunt?" Kai nodded "Incredibly! The cubs are weaning off, so I get more time to do mommy things." Mosi smiled weakly "H-hey mom... you love me right?" Kai nodded "Of course... now what do you want?"

Mosi sighed, he hated asking for things, especially if it put a burden on other "I FOUND A CUB CAN YOU PLEASE FEED HER UNTIL SHE WEANS?" Asim, Gino, and Marcus all began to laugh. Gino shook his head "Just blurt it out like that! Why s nervous to ask your mom for a favor?" Mosi winced... he blew it. Kais eyes were wide "Really? How old is it?" Mosi was caught off guard, "She cant be more than a few days younger than my littlest siblings?" Kai nodded "A girl! Lovely! Whats her name?"
Mosi stopped, "Oh my god, I havent named her!" He bit his lip "Um... Novah?" Kai smiled "What a lovely name Mosi, why did you pick it?" Mosi shook his head "I dunno... it just feels right?" Kai smiled "Did Asante approve of her staying?" Mosi laughed "She was who I asked first." Asim smiled "Really? I thought you would ask your mom first for backup before asking your grandmother, your growing up fast Mosi!" Mosi had a nervous laugh. "You guys want to see her?" Mosi eagerly turned in the direction of the den, Everyone nodded and followed him as he led them to his cub.

In case you all cant tell, Novah will be Hakus future mate. Obviously she will be stronger than him and a better hunter. She will probably care for him more than he will her because he will stay sick for a while, causing him to be weaker than the other cubs.

Anyways, she will meet up with her brothers again when she is a bit older and can talk. She will be a very free spirit, and she will for sure explore and find her brothers some day! They wont make a big appearance in the story or anything because I dont own them, but they will be here :3
